As the name implies, certain rules of conduct apply to our conferences to make the code.talks a safe and enjoyable place for all. All participants, speakers, curators, sponsors and organizers are called on to comply with these rules, which are enforced by the staff throughout the entire conference. By buying a ticket, registering as a sponsor and committing to give a lecture, the parties agree to our code of conduct for the code.talks. Participants who violate these rules can expect to be sanctioned by the event staff up to and including being expelled from the conference without any claim to a refund of the ticket price.
Nobody is to be discriminated or harassed at the code.talks because of their gender, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, physique, ethnicity or religious affiliation (or absence thereof). We will not tolerate any harrassment, and any sexualized language and representations are particularly unwanted at the conference: this includes the venue, the lectures, workshops, the after-work party as well as social media. Among other things, "harrassment" includes offensive statements about one's gender, sexual orientation, physical appearance such as one's physique, ethnicity or religious affiliation (or absence thereof) as well as sexualized representations in public spaces, conscious intimidation, stalking, tracking, unwanted photography or filming, repeated distribution of lectures and other events, unwanted physical contact and unwanted sexual attention.
Should you feel harassed or notice that someone else is being harassed or notice any other problems, please contact a member of the organizing team immediately. We are easy to recognize as we all wear the same code.talks t-shirts. All helpers will have an open ear for you and will try to do everything in their power to solve the problem. Of course you can contact us at any time by E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Every participant should be able to attend an interesting lecture at every hour. To ensure this, there are always five lectures held at the same time divided into ten tracks. Therefore, we guarantee 70 lectures within 2 days. There is guaranteed to be something for everyone. By the way, the developer conference has started in Hamburg in 2011 and was once held under the name of “Developer Conference” and/or "Devcon Hamburg". For practical and legal reasons the conference was renamed in 2013, today known as code.talks. Participants once hat the opportunity to submit a name proposal. The lucky winner enjoys unlimited free admission to code.talks.
Therefore, we offer highly discounted tickets for pupils, students and trainees. Also, university professors are able provide free tickets to their students focussing on IT modules since there are usually students left that are still not able to afford discounted tickets. Review: in 2016 pupils of the district school “Am Heidberg” visited code.talks with their work group “media and social issues”. In 2017 the CODE-University received 70 free tickets for starting their introduction week at code.talks. Since the given prices are far below cost, these tickets are financed through sponsorship.
We provide an exciting program, tasty food, a sensational exclusive party location and a lot of other gimmicks. However, to us a respectful interaction with each person involved is obligatory and extremely important (See Code of Conduct).
Our principles are very important to us, and there are many useful initiatives who are doing a lot for the above points. Since these initiatives always depend on financial support, we donate as far as out budget allows to initiatives and associations starting in 2015 to promote young talent and diversity in the IT area.
The organization team of the code.talks works closely together with user groups and smaller industry events. In addition to offering discounted or free tickets as well as smaller cooperation projects we expand our efforts in setting up a Community Corner / Lounge area at code.talks. We’ve created a space that gives everyone the opportunity to get in touch with each other during the conference. We are pleased to add user meetups into the conference’s schedule. If you are interested please do not hesitate to contact the organization team at email@example.com.
Code.talks is not only a conference. Our goal is to encourage outstanding speaker to participate in the conference. In addition to our Call for Papers we constantly reach out to companies that haven’t been part of conferences of this kind yet to increase the range of given exclusive insights. In addition to that, since 2015 we have been working with reliable curators to achieve this goal as a team.
We usually work with initiatives such as Woman-Tech-Makers or Digital Media Woman that will provide discounted tickets to potential female participants in order to increase the percentage of women attending. Furthermore, we work together with curators that enable us to achieve this goal.
